Life Before, During And After Foster Care

I was a foster kid and now a kinship parent. My life before, during, & after foster care taught me a lot. Here's insight into the lives of the foster kids and foster parents of foster care.

Shared Stories of Foster Care

This is a place to share stories and spread awareness about life before, during, and after the foster care system. Pretty much any story involving the foster care system is welcome.
Sharing our stories not only helps us by discussing our issues, but lets other people know that they're not alone in the things they are going through. We can also inform people that don't know much about the system on how it effects the people involved in it. Thank you for sharing!

  6. I was placed in foster care age 16 after my mother died and my father went to prison, I was so afraid and tried to rebel against my family and my social workers; I would drink, take drugs and sleep around. After a little while I realised all anyone wanted to do was help me, i left school with no qualifications. So on the advice of my social workers I finished school, went to college. I'm now 21, finished college, living in a brilliant city, in a brilliant job and living a great life with my partner. I have an amazing relationship with all my family and stay in contact with my social workers. I think being in foster care has made me a far stronger person and gave me a real sense of what's important in life. Kris :)
